UPDATE: 5:10 p.m.
A man from Kelowna who went missing Tuesday afternoon was found in Clearwater just before 2 p.m. Thursday (April 8).
Sgt. Grant Simpson of the Clearwater RCMP detachment said Carlos Sigurnjak was found by a passerby who saw him walking down the mountain extremely wet and barefoot. Sigurnjak was in the search area near where his car was found at a higher elevation.
He voluntarily went with BC Ambulance to be treated at Dr. Helmcken Memorial Hospital.
Sgt. Simpson said it was the “best possible outcome.”
Carlos’ sister Tiffany had been making posts to various groups on Facebook, hoping someone would see her brother or know why he was in the area. The family had noted it was unusual for him to be in Clearwater.
“Someone was looking out for him these past two days,” Sigurnjak wrote on Facebook. “We are so incredibly blessed and lucky and were fearing the worst. Thanks again for all the love and support. We are beyond relieved.”
When the news spread that Carlos was missing, community members offered to help.
Sgt. Simpson said, “Everybody wanted to help. That’s awesome when the community comes together like that.”

Clearwater RCMP is searching for a Kelowna man whose vehicle was found abandoned south of Vavenby.
Carlos Sigurnjak went missing about 4 p.m. on Tuesday, April 6, according to a Facebook post by his family. His blue hatchback car was found abandoned at the corner of Holland Road and Highway 5 with his keys, wallet and luggage still inside.
In the post, his sister Tiffany noted it was unusual for Sigurnjak to be in the Clearwater area.
Clearwater RCMP Sgt. Grant Simpson said one of the detachment’s traffic members noticed the vehicle early Wednesday morning and thought it had broken down. When another RCMP member saw the same car later that day, he did a check on the plate and found the keys on the rear seat.
The police dog team was brought out to search Wednesday night and RCMP plan to go out again with the local search rescue.
Anyone with any information is asked to call 911 or the Clearwater detachment at 250-674-2237.
