A two-vehicle collision on Hwy 16 has claimed one life and sent two people to Mills Memorial Hospital.
The incident, which happened approximately 2 km east of Usk, saw one vehicle engulfed in flames and occurred shortly before noon today, Sept. 25, reported police.
The highway was shut down while the Terrace RCMP and the West Pacific Region Traffic Services investigate the cause of the crash but DriveBC reported at 2 p.m. that it may be reopened by 10 p.m.
Reports said people were already taking the Cranberry Connector, but the ministry of transportation’s Dan Baker said he are not recommending it as a detour because the ministry doesn’t know what condition it’s in.
DriveBC’s next expected report on the road closure is set for 6 p.m.
