UPDATE: The Coquihalla Highway reopened southbound at 11:45 a.m. on Friday.
Original story:
The Coquihalla Highway briefly reopened this morning in both directions between Hope and Merritt, however the northbound lanes are now closed due to an accident and weather conditions.
Drive BC issued a travel advisory and advised motorists to exercise extreme caution if considering travel and be prepared for winter conditions.
According to Drive BC, drivers should expect up to one hour delays.
The highway was closed for most of the night after snow began falling causing several accidents.

Avalanche control work is also planned on the Trans-Canada between Revelstoke and Golden starting Friday at 4 a.m. until 1 p.m. A detour is not available.
