Eagle Bay firefighters responded to a smouldering burn pile off a forestry road on Tuesday.
According to the Eagle Bay Fire Department, the burn pile was located on private land off a forestry service road above Eagle Bay. The smoke had been reported to the BC Wildfire Service (BCWS). Because the burn pile was located outside of the fire department’s jurisdiction, approval was quickly sought and received from BCWS for the local firefighters to respond.
Eagle Bay firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the smoking burn pile and prevent any spread to surrounding areas.
The fire department asks that if you see smoke, “don’t message, text or Facebook your friends,” but call 1-800-663-555 or *5555 via cell phone to report wildfires, smoke or any violations of B.C. wildfire regulations.

Firefighters were quick to deal with a spot-sized fire in Eagle Bay.
Discovered on Aug. 10, the BC Wildfire Service said local firefighters responded to the fire which started in an old burn pile.
As of Aug. 11, the fire was classified as under control.
