Abbotsford Police have reported that the body found on Wednesday morning is that of a 15-year-old male who fell to his death.

He was discovered by a cyclist at 5:30 a.m. in the parking lot of the Sevenoaks Shopping Centre.

Originally thought to be in his 20s or 30s, the boy was identified by police, who are not releasing his name at this point.

According to a statement released by police, they have contacted the family and wish “to extend condolences to them and all of the many friends of this young man.  We will not be releasing his name at this time in order to allow for those closest to him to have time to deal with this tragedy.”

A medical examination has determined that the cause of death was the result of a fall.

When first discovered, Cost. Ian MacDonald said police administered chest compressions and first aid, but “it was apparent that the person was deceased.”

The body was located by the Bourquin Crescent bus loop in the mall parking lot, close to a small stairwell.
