Another blaze has been sparked near Salmon Arm, while the existing fire near Craigellachie has more than tripled in size.
A fire near Six Mile Point is burning above Mara Lake. The blaze, discovered Monday, Aug. 17 is at Hummingbird Creek and is an estimated 0.3 hectares in size. It is 18.5 kms northeast of Salmon Arm and nine kilometres south of Sicamous. Six BC Wildfire Service personnel are on site.
“No structures are threatened and it’s suspected human caused,” said Gagan Lidhran, fire information officer with the Kamloops Fire Centre.
Meanwhile a blaze off Highway 1, also discovered Monday, has grown to 15 hectares. The fire is located off Crazy Creek Forest Service Road.
A 20 person unit crew is on site at that blaze, which Lidhran describes as mostly a surface fire with some visible open flame.
