A two-storey home on Tzeachten First Nation in Chilliwack was completely destroyed by fire on Saturday morning.
The fire broke out around 9:30 a.m. on Bearstone Place, off of South Sumas Road near Vedder Road.
Firefighters from all six of Chilliwack’s halls were called to the blaze. They arrived on scene to find a fully involved single-family residential home. Fire crews contained the fire to the home.
This is not the first time a house was destroyed by fire in that same location. In 2013, fire ripped through a four-year-old, 3,500-square-foot house in that exact spot on Labour Day weekend leaving a family of five homeless. (See photos at bottom of story)

Saturday’s fire also damaged two pickup trucks parked adjacent to the garage.
A man and his two teenage sons managed to safely evacuate the home. The man suffered minor smoke inhalation and a minor burn to one arm. BC Ambulance paramedics treated him on scene.
Two cats did not survive.
The cause of the fire is considered accidental and is under investigation by the Chilliwack Fire Department. There were no firefighter injuries.
