The Regional District of Central Kootenay issued an evacuation order for residences from 3966-4013 of Broadwater Road on Sunday.
Runoff and debris closed that portion of the road earlier in the day and as the situation continued to deteriorate a decision was made to evacuate nearby homes.
The affected addresses include the Parkwood Trailer Park and the Ponderosa Mobile Home Park.
The majority of the residents have been evacuated to the Castlegar Sandman Inn.
YRB is on site working to repair damages to the road caused by the flooding.
The RDCK says the biggest issue right now is access because of overflow across the road.
Traffic can access points further up Broadwater Road by crossing over the Hugh Keenleyside Dam, but access is limited to residents and essential services only.
The RDCK has also issued a local state of emergency for flooding and evacuation alerts for properties near streams and rivers.
We will continue to update this story as more information becomes available.
