The highway has reopened between Prince Rupert and Terrace after a closure longer than eight hours. DriveBC announced Highway 16 was closed in both directions due to a high avalanche hazard, following days of delays for avalanche control.

The highway reopened an hour earlier than expected at 8 p.m. Feb. 27.
