UPDATE:

The intersection of Hwy 16 and Queen Street has now been cleared following a two-vehicle crash this morning (Sept. 23).

Staff Sgt. Terry Gillespie, commander of the Smithers detachment, said a southbound van ran a red light and collided with an SUV in the intersection. The SUV wound up on its side.

Initial reports from the scene that occupants of the vehicles were taken to hospital appear to have been unfounded. Gillespie said occupants of both vehicles sustained minor injuries, but were able to be treated by paramedics on site.

The driver of the van has been issued a violation ticket, he said.
