UPDATE: Identity of deceased male confirmed to be Adam Moore

The coroner has confirmed with the family that the deceased male recovered near Galloway Rapids today is Adam Moore.

The family reports that a call from the coroners office this evening has confirmed 26-year-old Adam Moore of Prince Rupert was the deceased male recovered from a submerged vehicle near Galloway Rapids earlier today.

 

UPDATE:

RCMP have recovered the body of a male from the submerged car belonging to Adam Moore.

A crane was called to the Galloway Rapids bridge to recover the vehicle shortly after 2 p.m. today.

“Once the vehicle was removed from the water investigators discovered the body of a deceased man. At this time police have not released the name of the deceased person until identity has been confirmed by the BC Coroners Service,” said Const. Matt Ericson of the Prince Rupert RCMP.

“It is with great sadness we report that the RCMP have informed the family that a male body was found in Adam’s car, which was submerged in the water under the Galloway Rapids bridge. We believe that person to be Adam until confirmed,” said a statement from family member Maynard Angus.

Prince Rupert RCMP have found the vehicle of Adam Moore.

“We have located the vehicle and it is underwater. We have closed the highway in both directions and have a crane on the bridge to lift it out of the water,” said Const. Matt Ericson, noting the highway will be closed for approximately one hour.

“At this point we can not definitively say if there is anyone in the vehicle until we recover it from the water.”
