The cops called foul-play when they found bones in the woods near a logging road late last week, but by Monday afternoon they were telling a much less sordid story.
At around 2 p.m., a press release was sent out indicating that whomever the victim of foul-play may have been, they weren’t likely of a two-legged variety.
“After further forensic investigation we can now confirm the remains are not human and our file has concluded,” said Sgt. Rob Vermeulen in a press release.
The forested area off Trepanier Road in Peachland had been roped off since a call to investigate potential human remains was made April 11.
Police said the body was discovered by someone walking in the area as the remains were found in a makeshift grave.
