There were a dramatic few moments over the lunch hour downtown Chilliwack on Friday as RCMP vehicles raced around busy streets, sirens blaring and lights flashing.
Photo-arrest
One male was arrested and due in court on Jan. 29 and two others were released after a pickup truck collided with two vehicles and ended up on the sidewalk by the Chilliwack Law Courts just after noon.
RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Mike Rail had few details but said one officer observed the black GMC pickup truck driving erratically. It was then seen to collide with two others before coming to a stop on the sidewalk on Princess Avenue.
Witnesses reported the collisions were in the TD Bank parking lot.
At approximately 12:30 p.m. on Jan. 26 Mounties were seen arresting a young male wearing a Vancouver Canucks jersey and jeans on First Avenue just east of Young Road, about three blocks away.
Just after that, officers blocked off a short stretch of Princess Avenue east of Yale Road where the damaged pickup was on the sidewalk facing westbound between street trees next to the Chilliwack Law Courts.
The expensive-looking truck was jacked up and had after-market rims. It had a dented front bumper and a crack in the windshield.
No ambulances attended the scene and Rail said he had heard no reports of injuries.
