Update: Man arrested after woman receives ‘life threatening’ injuries in Sicamous

Woman receives life-threatening injuries, 26-year-old man in custody

A woman is fighting for her life in hospital and a man has been arrested in connection with what police describe as an attempted murder after an incident on Riverside Avenue in Sicamous.

Sicamous RCMP Sgt. Murray McNeil says at approximately 6:20 a.m. on April 2, police responded to a report of a man assaulting a woman in the area of Riverside Avenue in Sicamous.

Officers found the victim suffering from trauma inside an apartment. McNeil said Emergency Health Services provided emergency care before she was transported to hospital for life-threatening injuries.

A short while later, the suspect was apprehended by police – with the assistance from Salmon Arm RCMP and the Southeast District General Investigation Section – not far from the apartment building.

McNeil said the suspect, a 26-year-old male, and the victim are known to each other.

The suspect remains in police custody.
