No charges are anticipated after an hours-long crisis saw VicPD patrol officers and Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team members surround the Ramada Inn hotel on Gorge Road Tuesday afternoon.

At the end of the incident, one man was taken into custody and transported to hospital for a mental health evaluation.

The initial call came in just after noon about a man suffering from a mental-health related crisis. Police exercised caution and based on information that emerged as officers worked to locate the man, the Emergency Response Team and crisis negotiators were called out to assist. The hotel was temporarily evacuated to ensure the public’s safety.
