Victoria police are still searching for two suspects in a stabbing that seriously wounded a man last night (June 23).
The stabbing happened near a duplex in the 2500-block of Vancouver St. when a fight broke out. Two men were wounded ≠– a 38-year-old Victoria man was rushed to Victoria General Hospital with a severe stab wound to his chest, which required emergency surgery. He remains in intensive care this morning. A 35-year-old man was taken to Royal Jubilee Hospital with less serious injuries. He was later released.
Witnesses to a fight called 9-1-1 shortly before 6 p.m. When police arrived, they arrested numerous people and brought them to the police department for questioning.
However, the two main suspects have evaded police.
One is a man, non-Caucasian, 25-30 years old. He is about 6′ tall with short, dark hair. At the time of the assault, he wore a dark ball cap and jeans.
The other suspect is also non-Caucasian, 20-30 years old. He is also about 6′ tall, skinny and wore a dark hoodie and jeans at the time of the assault.
“It is still too early to speculate on the relationship or motive of the people involved, but police do not believe this was a random attack,” said Const. Mike Russell.
