According to the Chase RCMP the man struck by the train was 57-years old and had mobility challenges. He had not fully crossed the tracks when he was struck by a westbound train.
The man was transported to Shuswap Lake General Hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
After the collision, but before emergency personnel arrived on the scene a motorist drove through the lighted barricade across the train tracks damaging them. Anyone with information on the motorist is asked to call CP policeat 1-800-716-9132 or the Chase RCMP at 250-679-3221.
Update 8:15 a.m. Jan. 29
CP Rail confirmed that at approximately 1:45 p.m. on Jan. 28 a CP train struck an individual at Pine Street and 2nd Ave in Chase. Their investigation into the incident is ongoing.

Unconfirmed reports indicate a man was struck by a train at the Pine Street railway crossing in Chase this afternoon.
RCMP, CP Rail Police and an ambulance responded to the crossing where photos from the scene show one of it’s barricade arms was damaged.
