UPDATE: Minor injuries received in three-vehicle collision on TCH

Two people were sent to hospital with minor injuries following a three-vehicle collision on the Trans-Canada Highway Wednesday, Dec. 13.

The incident, initially reported as a four-vehicle collision, occurred at 2:45 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 1 and 4th Street NE.

Salmon Arm RCMP Sgt. Scott West said witnesses reported the driver of a southbound Ford truck was attempting to cross the highway at 4th. While doing so, the truck was struck by an eastbound SUV. As a result of the collision,the Ford truck collidedwith a third vehicle stopped in the eastbound turning near Jacobson Ford. The driver of a fourth vehicle at the scene of the incident was able to exchange information with police before driving away.

Police, BC Sheriffs and BC Emergency Health Services paramedics attended.

Drivers may face traffic snarls along the Trans-Canada Highway in downtown Salmon Arm after a reported four-car collision at 2:40 p.m. Wednesday.

The incident took place on the highway at 4th Street NE in the eastbound lanes in front of Jacobson Ford.

The access to the highway from the southside of 4th Street has been closed to traffic.

Police and BC Sheriffs were helping to direct eastbound traffic around the accident.

One ambulance was on scene, while another was called in but was then called back.
