UPDATE: Nanaimo man missing for three days found safe

RCMP had asked for assistance in locating 26-year-old man

UPDATE: Nanaimo RCMP say the 26-year-old has been found safe and sound.

PREVIOUSLY POSTED: A man known to frequent downtown Nanaimo hasn’t been seen past few days and is now considered missing.

Nanaimo RCMP noted in a press release that they are asking for the public’s help in locating Darian Newell, 26, who was reported missing Jan. 29. His caregivers told police that Newell has medical issues and they are concerned for his safety and well-being.

Newell is 5-foot-10, 160 pounds. He is of no fixed address and is known to spend time at Maffeo Sutton Park and other downtown areas.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call the Nanaimo RCMP’s non-emergency line at 250-754-2345 and quote file No. 2021-3457.
