UPDATE: Nanaimo RCMP report missing 42-year-old man found safe and sound

UPDATE: The Nanaimo RCMP have reported that the 42-year-old man who was reported missing from Nanaimo Monday has been located safe and sound.

PREVIOUSLY POSTED: RCMP say those who are close with a missing man are worried about his well-being.

Nanaimo RCMP issued a press release Monday asking for the public’s help in locating Kale Nystrom, 42, who was reported missing Dec. 14.

“Investigators have learned that Nystrom had been saying things and was acting in such a way that the people closest to him are extremely worried for his safety and well-being,” the release noted.

Nystrom is Caucasian, 5-foot-10, 160 pounds and has been experiencing homelessness, sheltering in parks, wooded areas and abandoned buildings. Police say they have patrolled those locations and haven’t found Nystrom.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call the Nanaimo RCMP’s non-emergency line at 250-754-2345 and quote file No. 2020-44501.
