Members attending the Annual General Meeting of the Cawston Community Hall Society were delighted to learn that in addition to a hall improvement grant of $6,300 from the Community Foundation of The South Okanagan, that a $2,000 grant has been received from Fortis BC.
Both grants will be directed to renovating washrooms including a wheelchair access, radiant floor heating and baby change table as well as new toilets and sinks.
First funding community charitable enterprises in 1994, The Community Foundation of the South Okanagan has a mission to enrich the quality of life by connecting the generosity of people with evolving community needs.
The Cawston Community Hall Society qualified for the foundation’s support to install energy saving insulation and floor heating in 2011.
In 2012 Fortis BC is a partner with The Community Foundation of the South Okanagan in support of the Cawston Community Hall. It is part of a declared Fortis initiative to give back to the people and communities where it operates.
Newly elected Cawston Community Hall Society Directors for 2012-2013 are Cory van Heck, Robert Mennell, Bob MacAtamny, James Duperron, Doe Gregoire, Kaaaly Levan and Richard Charbonneau.
Renovations to the Cawston Hall washrooms is expected to be complete by Dec 31, 2012.
