A truck spun out of control and ended up in a ditch after hitting a patch of black ice Friday morning on Highway 16 just outside of Prince Rupert.
There is a small amount of diesel that is leaking from the overturned truck, said Sgt. Dave Uppal of the Prince Rupert RCMP.
The Gat Leedm Logistics truck was heading out of the city when the incident happened just past the MacCarthy GM dealership. The driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
“The highway may be shut down at some point in order to remove the vehicle from the ditch,” Uppal said.
The RCMP have contacted Transport Canada as well as the B.C. department of highways.
City of Prince Rupert crews were on the scene to contain the spill until a spill crew arrived from Prince George.
