The Penticton Growers Supply Co. is temporarily closed after a staff member tested positive for COVID-19 earlier this week.

Out of an abundance of caution and after careful consultation, it has been decided that the Penticton Growers Supply Co. store will close temporarily until Monday, May 10, said Laurel Van Dam, director of media relations, BC Tree Fruits Cooperative.

“We understand that this temporary closure will be an inconvenience to the farming community that typically visits the Penticton store. Ultimately, the health and safety of our staff and our community is our top priority,” said Van Dam.

The Grower Supply stores in Oliver, Kelowna, Vernon and Creston will remain open to serve the community.

“Please be assured that Growers Supply Co. has very strict Covid-19 protocols in place at all locations to ensure the safety of our customers and our staff while you shop, she said.

The company learned of the positive test result on Tuesday.

“We are in the process of doing our internal contact tracing and expect to be in communication with Interior Health shortly,” said Van Dam, on Tuesday.

The climb in COVID-19 cases throughout the valley and the province has caused several businesses to temporarily close for COVID exposures.

Growers is one of several businesses in Penticton that have had a staff member test positive in the past few weeks.

Currently, the Starbucks on Riverside Drive is closed for a second time after a staff member tested positive.
