A FortisBC representative confirms that a motor vehicle incident was the cause of a power outage today that left up to 1150 customers in West Bench, Sage Mesa, the edge of Penticton and Summerland without power Sunday.

“As I understand it, two lines were affected. They’ve managed to restore power to a number of customers but at this point, there are still about 556 customers without power,” said the Fortis spokesperson. Crews are working on the outage, and expect to have power fully restored by 6 p.m.
