The RCMP are requesting information from the public after a man was arrested for pointing a gun in Boitanio Park in Williams Lake Thursday afternoon.

“We believe there may have been a related conflict between some people just prior to this incident in the park or nearby area,” Williams Lake RCMP Inspector Warren Brown said Monday.

At 3:15 p.m. Thursday, police responded to a complaint about a man pointing a gun in the park. They located the male in the park fitting the suspect description, found him in possession of a loaded rifle and other weapons.

“This is believed to be a retaliatory incident stemming from an earlier conflict,” Insp. Warren Brown said in a press release. “The investigation is continuing and appropriate charges will be considered when more information is known.”

Anyone with information is asked to please contact the RCMP at 250-392-6211.
