UPDATE:
RCMP now believe that Jonathan Knight, the Prince Rupert man missing since last week, made it across the Skeena River in his seven-foot inflatable boat.
While conducting searches at approximately 5:30 p.m. yesterday, RCMP received a call from a boater indicating he had located the boat on the opposite side of the river. The boat, which was confirmed with a serial number check, was found upright with a paddle, floor pump and carrying case inside. There were no bow or stern lines attached to the boat.
Based on that RCMP believe Knight made it to the shore and unloaded his gear, but did not secure the boat causing it to slip away on a high tide. A search along the Skeena will be continued today by Terrace Ground Search and Rescue and by RCMP Marine section.
