Prince Rupert RCMP have located the man who was said to have threatened several young people near Charles Hays.
“The Prince Rupert RCMP would like to thank members of the community for their assistance,” stated Cst. Matt Ericson spokesman for the Prince Rupert RCMP.
“With your assistance police were able to identify and speak with the suspect. As a result of these conversations police were able to determine that there was a misunderstanding between the adult and the youth. Police have since spoken to all of the families involved and advised them of the status of the investigation.”

The Prince Rupert RCMP is investigating an incident involving a man who threatened several young people.
RCMP received a complaint at approximately 4:20 p.m. on March 21 of a suspicious man at the Charles Hays Secondary School field. Police met with the complainants who advised them they had been approached by an unknown man while they were playing baseball in the field earlier that afternoon. The man had talked to the complainants, began acting in a strange manner and was talking to himself. At one point the man told the group “I’m gonna hurt you sooner or later”.
“Currently the Prince Rupert RCMP are looking to identify this man in an attempt to speak with him and determine why he made such a statement,” said Const. Matt Ericson, spokesperson for the Prince Rupert RCMP. “As we have been unable to locate this man we are turning to the community for assistance and requesting that they call the detachment if he is seen around town.”
The man is described as being in his 60s, has grey hair and a short beard, a slim build and had keys around his neck when the incident occurred.
