Pedestrian OK after being struck by a vehicle
A pedestrian hit by a pickup truck and knocked 20 feet through the air Friday evening did not sustain serious injuries, Byron said.
The pedestrian was trying to cross a marked crosswalk at the intersection of Highways 97 and 20 at about 8:53 p.m. on July 8, Byron said.
The driver of the pickup truck was turning right to go north on Highway 97 and slammed on the brakes.
“The rear end of the pickup comes out and swings into the pedestrian, knocking the pedestrian 20 feet through the air,” Byron said. “The pedestrian was taken to the hospital where he was stable with no serious injuries sustained.”
RCMP continue to investigate the incident.
Collision at Highway 20 and Hodgson Road
At least six people, including three children, were injured in a two-vehicle collision Thursday, July 7, at the intersection of Highway 20 and Hodgson Road.
Around 3 p.m. a 2011 Ford Ranger was making a left turn onto Highway 20 from Hodgson Road and collided with a blue 2009 Ford F-150 pickup that was headed westbound on Highway 20 and occupied by a driver and five family members, Byron said, noting the injuries ranged from minor to substantial, but not life threatening.
The RCMP, Emergency Health Services, Central Cariboo Search and Rescue and the Williams Lake Fire Department attended the scene.
RCMP continue investigation of stolen U-Haul trailer
The RCMP continue to investigate the theft of a U-Haul trailer on June 8, 2016, in Williams Lake.
“We had a report of trailer stolen overnight from U-Haul on Mackenzie Avenue,” Byron said.
The trailer was white with U-Haul stickers on it and a license plate GED783.
A suspect vehicle in the theft is a newer model dark-coloured pickup truck.
“They went into the parking lot, hooked up the trailer and drove away,” Byron said.
