An individual has died in an apartment building in the 3600 block of Fourth Avenue on Thursday, March 30.
Shortly before 6 a.m., the Port Alberni RCMP and BC Ambulance Services responded to a report of an individual in medical distress.
The patient was assessed on scene and transported to the hospital where they subsequently died. Officers remained on scene until shortly after 1 p.m.
RCMP say there is nothing suspicious about the death and the investigation has been turned over to the BC Coroner’s Service, who are continuing the investigation into the circumstances of death.
“The public has nothing to worry about…everyone’s safe in the neighbourhood. Everyone’s okay,” said Brian Hunter, Port Alberni RCMP detachment commander.
