  • Feb. 21, 2015 3:00 p.m.

Police believe road and weather conditions might have been a factor in the crash that killed a 36-year-old man on Highway 97, north of 100 Mile House, on Feb. 19.

However, the exact cause of the crash remains unknown at this time, police say, and a North District Traffic Services Collision Reconstructionist is assisting in the investigation.

Emergency crews from 100 Mile House and Lac la Hache, along with 100 Mile House RCMP and Cariboo-Chilcotin Traffic Services, responded to a collision between a northbound tractor trailer unit and a southbound pick-up truck near Lac la Hache at around 11:30 p.m.

The driver of the pick-up truck was pronounced dead at the scene. The man, whose identity is being withheld, had been working in Terrace, police say.

A female passenger was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the tractor trailer unit was not injured.

The highway remained closed for several hours the morning of Feb. 20.
