Police seized ecstacy and marijuana during a search of a marijunana grow operation during the afternoon of Thursday, April 28.

Staff Sgt. Kevin Keane of the Salmon Arm RCMP reports that a residence in the 4300 block of Auto Road SE contained about 1,500 marijuana plants, several hundred tablets of Ecstasy, or MCMA, and a quantity of Ecstasy in powder form that had yet to be pressed into tablets. Officers also discovered marijuana in bud form, rifle ammunition and evidence of steroid use.

Police report that the electrical system to run the grow op was complex and running extremely hot.

“It appeared that the electrical wire had earlier burned off at the pole due to overload, and was reconnected by the house occupants,” stated the police press release. “A hydro bypass was in place and all power to the residence was being stolen. Electrical power has since been disconnected to the home.”

Police also report finding a large amount of growth chemical used to increase production, with a water hose draining continuously into the backyard.

“Police are aware that the home occupants have lived at this place for two years, but are unclear how long the gorw operation was in place.”

A female from Salmon Arm and a male from the Lower Mainland were arrested.

Police state they will be recommending charges in relation to marijuana production, possession of ecstasy for the purpose of trafficking and hydro theft.
