Update: A severe thunderstorm warning is no longer in effect.
Environment Canada is forecasting a 60 per cent chance of showers or thunderstorms and the risk of a severe thunderstorm for Wednesday, July 21.
Previous: A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for Cariboo North, including Quesnel.
Environment Canada issued the warning Tuesday afternoon, July 20, and said meteorologists were tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing strong wind gusts, pea to dime-sized hail, and heavy rain.
“This severe thunderstorm will track eastwards across Highway 97 about 15 km south of Hixon,” states the warning.
“Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.”
