UPDATE: Severe thunderstorm warning for Quesnel lifted

A severe thunderstorm was moving north, with the potential to bring hail

UPDATE:

The severe thunderstorm warning put in place for Quesnel has been lifted.

Environment Canada updated the warning, but a severe thunderstorm watch is still in place.

ORIGINAL STORY:

Environment Canada is tracking a severe thunderstorm that has developed near Quesnel, issuing a thunderstorm warning for Cariboo North at 4:30 p.m. on June 30.

“(The storm) is travelling northwards at 60 km/h, and will be in the vicinity of Highway 97, and cross over Moose Heights and Ten Mile Lake as well as surrounding communities,” a Environment Canada warning reads.

There is a possibility of pea to nickel sized hail. Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when nearby imminent storms are likely to produce large hail, damaging winds or torrential rainfall.
