UPDATE: Single-lane alternating traffic in effect on Sturgeon Point Road

General Manager of YRB says they are aiming to open roads to single-lane alternating traffic by 4 p.m. on April 20.

Parts of Sturgeon Point Road were inaccessible in Vanderhoof due to flooding.

Yellowhead Roads and Bridge in Vanderhoof posted a photo on Facebook around 8:15 am on April 20, of the washout near Maunders Road in Vanderhoof.

A temporary bridge has been put in place until the “high water goes down and then we will repair the road,” Jordy McNolty, general manager of YRB said.

A single lane was opened for alternating traffic around 4 p.m. on April 20.

The cause of flooding is the late spring and high temperature, the general manager said, adding that the run-off is “overwhelming from a later spring.”

There will be 24-hour traffic control on that road until it is re-opened, he said.
