***************************

A small landslide has brought traffic down to two lanes on Highway 97 between Penticton and Summerland.

A witness told the Penticton Western News that a couple of inches of dirt covered all four lanes that came down from the hill before the Walters Road turnoff. The driver said emergency crews shut the four lane highway down to one-lane northbound and one-lane southbound. She said shortly after the small landslide occurred there was so much dirt on the road that it was causing a fog as drivers went through it.

A worker helping clean up the landslide said the incident happened between 5:30 and 6 a.m.

DriveBC confirmed at 8:07 a.m. that lane closures are in effect because of debris on the highway.
