UPDATE: Smithers United Church Dec. 22 service back in its normal location

The service had been tentatively relocated to Creation Station pending a building inspection

Smithers United Church (SUC) is back in its own building.

A notice posted on the church’s front door earlier this week noted the regular Sunday service would be held at Creation Station Dec. 22.

Pastor Debbie Bentham said the temporary relocation was a precautionary measure while a routine inspection was carried out and they didn’t know if it would be completed in time. It did get done, however, and everything was fine, she said.

The regular sunday service for Dec. 22 will be held in its normal location on Eighth Avenue at 10 a.m.

Recently the church made headlines for becoming the first northern participant (north of Prince George) of the denomination’s “Affirming Ministries” program.
