Two drivers were sent to hospital Monday night after colliding head-on along Sooke Road.

Emergency crews responded to multiple 911 calls at 7:55 p.m. for a crash in the 3700-block of the highway, between Humpack and Kangaroo roads. There, they found two vehicles had been involved in a head-on collision, both sustaining significant damage.

The drivers, a 35-year-old Victoria man and 36-year-old View Royal man, were the only occupants of each vehicle. Both were transported to hospital and one has since been released. West Shore RCMP Const. Meighan Massey said the other remains in hospital, but didn’t comment on his condition.

The seven-kilometre stretch of Sooke Road was closed in both directions for several hours before opening just before 10 p.m.

Police are still investigating the cause of the collision.
