Mission RCMP are on the scene of an incident on Riverside Road.

A 59-year-old man was peacefully arrested just after 3 p.m. Tuesday after barricading himself into his mobile home on Riverside Road.

RCMP and a bailiff attended the home around 11 a.m. to repossess the property, located east of Mission in the rural community of Hatzic Prairie. The man refused to leave and brandished a knife, according to RCMP.

Members of the Mission RCMP and the Lower Mainland District Emergency Response Team were on scene.

More than a dozen police vehicles descended on the small enclave of homes, surrounded by farmland, and blocked access vehicles heading north or southbound along Farms Road.

Police negotiated with the man for about four hours before he surrendered. The man was taken to hospital, and according to RCMP spokesperson Sgt. Shaun Wright, no charges have been laid at this time.
