The man driving a vehicle identified as suspicious after the driver attempted to hand out candy to children has turned himself in.

According to the Revelstoke RCMP they investigated and are assured that there were no bad intentions behind the actions.

“The driver has been questioned and police can confirm that this was merely a seasonal gesture which goes against all ‘stranger danger’ instruction that parents and schools have been teaching youth for years,” said a news release from the RCMP. “The driver apologizes for his action and sees how this could be taken negatively.”

Kids in Arrow Heights were offered candy from strangers in a dark-coloured van on Dec. 7.

The Revelstoke RCMP received a report of the suspicious vehicle and a concerned adult, who observed the situation, took a picture of the vehicle.

The RCMP circulated the picture Dec. 9 in an attempt to gather more information.

“The police advise the public to not hesitate to report such incidents so that police can identify those involved and take action where possible,” said the news release. “The police also commend the youth for their confidence in reporting this suspicious incident and staying safe!”
