The situation was unclear – it could have been friends roughhousing, or it could have been an abduction.
So with an abundance of caution, police released a photo and put a call out late Thursday night to identify the whereabouts and occupants of a truck linked with suspicious activity near 123 Street and 84 Avenue.
Witnesses reported hearing a person calling for help from inside the truck and a passenger getting out and assaulting the person in the back. The truck then proceeded down 80 Avenue.
Late Friday afternoon, police said the Surrey RCMP Major Crime Unit had located the truck and that all the occupants were known to one another and no criminal offence had occurred.
“The response from the public was instrumental in finding the truck and its occupants,” said Cpl. Scotty Schumann in a press release. “With the community’s assistance we were able to locate the truck and ensure the well-being of everyone quickly.”
