A travel advisory is in effect for the Trans-Canada Highway between Revelstoke and Golden following a landslide in Glacier National Park.
DriveBC issued the advisory after the highway was reduced to single-lane alternating traffic through the slide zone about 85 kilometres east of Revelstoke.
Both lanes are now open, but further lane closure are expected through the weekend.
The Heather Hill, or East Gate, landslide comes down to the highway almost every year with the spring rains.
“Weekend precipitation and warming daytime temperatures will affect mudflow activity which may require highway closures,” states the warning issued by DriveBC. “Heavy traffic volumes are expected. Travelers should consider travelling early in the day or use alternate routes when making travel plans.”
