UPDATE:
Williams Lake RCMP are recommending charges against two men in their twenties, who were arrested on Winger Road Wednesday, April 8.
RCMP Insp. Jeff Pelley said officers were in the area on an unrelated matter with an ATV rider, when they came across a “vehicle associated to suspicious behaviour in the area.”
Pelley said the suspects briefly attempted to flee RCMP, however, were blocked in by other officers responding to the scene and were arrested.
“Both occupants are known to police,” Pelley said Thursday, noting police were recommending charges of possession of a prohibited weapon and breach of conditions in relation to the passenger, as well as flee from police for the driver, who had several outstanding warrants.
Pelley confirmed Williams Lake RCMP are seeing an increase in property crime in the area and have several strategies in place to target property offenders as well as increasing offender management.
