UPDATE: Vehicle seized by Mission RCMP following hit-and-run collision that sent woman to hospital

A pedestrian was sent to hospital in serious condition after being struck in a hit-and-run collision in the middle of downtown Mission on Sept. 21.

Mission RCMP were called to the intersection of 1st Avenue and Horne Street at 10:41 a.m., for reports of a woman being struck by a Grey Dodge pickup truck, said Cpl. Jason Raaflaub, media officer for the department.

He said the woman was using the designated crosswalk heading north on Horne across 1st Avenue and was hit by the truck making a left turn heading west. The truck immediately took off after the impact, Raaflaub said.

The injured woman was reportedly in and out of consciousness and taken to Abbotsford Regional Hospital, Raaflaub said, and RCMP members are still at the hospital.

BC Emergency Health Services confirmed the woman was transported to hospital in serious condition.

The Mission RCMP has obtained CCTV footage of the truck, Raaflaub said, and the Integrated Collision Analysis Reconstruction Service (ICARS) took charge of the investigation.

At least three RCMP vehicles and police tape cordoned off a section of the road, which was closed in both directions, according to DriveBC.
