UPDATE: Wires pulled down in Surrey, knocking out power to 2,000

A motor vehicle accident knocked out power to more than 2,000 South Surrey properties Friday afternoon.

A rail excavator knocked out power to more than 2,000 South Surrey properties Friday afternoon.

The machine appears to have connected with overhead wires near Colebrook Road and 152 Street, pulling down a power pole.

According to BC Hydro, power went out at 1:39 p.m., affecting 2,133 properties along 152 Street between Highway 10 and 32 Avenue.

Crews had restored power to most properties by mid-afternoon. By 3:30 p.m. just 154 properties were still without power.
