A 27-year-old man has been charged with manslaughter in connection with Sunday morning’s stabbing death, nearby in Cloverdale.

Members of the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) announced that Gurtarn ‘Tarn’ Sandhu has been charged in the death of 36-year-old Jaspreet [Jesse] Dhaliwal following an altercation.

Sandhu is set to make his first appearance in court Monday afternoon.

Mounties were called out to a home in the 17000 block of 57th Ave. at about 6 a.m., where they found a man “suffering wounds received from an edged weapon,” said IHIT’s Cpl. Meghan Foster.

The man was rushed to hospital, but Foster said all medical efforts failed and he died as a result of his injuries.

“This altercation occurred between parties known to each other, and was not random.”  Foster said. “This matter is now before the courts, and limited information can be provided as the court process will be honoured.”

The investigation remains on-going, she added. Anyone with further information – who has not already spoken to police – is asked to contact Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502. Or,  to remain anonymous, people can call CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or visit www.solvecrime.ca.
