Lower Mainland-based RCMP EOD unit destroys suspicious device in Glasgow Avenue parking lot

A suspicious device found underneath a vehicle parked in the 3200-block of Glasgow Ave. was destroyed Saturday afternoon by the RCMP’s EOD (Explosive Ordinance Disposal) unit.

Saanich police blocked off the street after a resident at 3277 Glasgow Ave. found the device underneath his truck at 7:20 a.m.

“Its cylindrical, four inches tall, three to four inches in diameter, wrapped in red duct tape with a green fuse sticking out from the top,” said Saanich police Sgt. Paul Lamoureux.

The RCMP unit caught the 11 a.m. ferry to Swartz Bay and arrived on scene at about 1:30 p.m. The device was destroyed using a high-pressured shot of water.
