Police talk to bystanders on the scene of a collision at the corner of Parkview Street and Autumn Avenue in Abbotsford.

A two-vehicle collision Wednesday afternoon in Abbotsford resulted in a female driver being taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash took place at about 4:30 p.m. in the 2400 block of Parkview Street at Autumn Avenue. That stretch of road runs north-south and is located between Peardonville and Hillcrest roads.

Abbotsford Police Const. Ian MacDonald said a 1992 Toyota Camry was headed south on Parkview, when a 1999 Ford F-150 pickup heading north swerved into the vehicle and then ran into a fence in the front yard of a property.

MacDonald said it appears that the 31-year-old male driver of the truck fell asleep at the wheel. He was issued a violation ticket. Police at the scene ruled out alcohol and drugs as a factor.

The 23-year-old woman driving the Camry was taken to hospital with some body pain and minor abrasions to her left arm. Her four-year-old daughter, who MacDonald said was properly buckled in to her car seat, was not injured.

Also yesterday, a car hit a power pole at Marshall and Vinewood roads.
