UPDATE: May 23, 1 p.m.
According to the Kelowna RCMP on May 19, shortly after 10 a.m., emergency crews responded to a report of a two vehicle collision with a single rollover on Glenmore Drive at the intersection of Summit Drive in Kelowna.
A green Chevrolet Spark with significant front end damage sat in the middle of the intersection, while a red Mazda B2600 with a camper box attached was resting on its passenger side north of the intersection.
Police believe the driver of the southbound Chevrolet turned left from Glenmore Road, east on Summit Drive when their vehicle was struck by the Mazda which had been northbound on Glenmore Drive at the time.
It is believed that the traffic light was in the process of changing from green to red when the two vehicles collided. Both drivers were assessed medically by emergency paramedics and released at the scene with minor injuries. The driver of the Chevrolet was issued a fine under the Motor Vehicle Act for fail to yield on a left turn.
Traffic is backed up in both directions along Glenmore Road after an accident left a truck camper on its side.
The two-vehicle crash at Glenmore and High Road happened just after 10 a.m.
A small green sedan was totalled in the accident. Reports from the scene indicate the vehicle’s front end is smashed in and all the air bags were deployed.
The flipped truck camper is blocking the right hand turn lane from Summit Drive on to Glenmore Road.
Traffic is backed up along Summit Drive and High Road as a result.
Fire, ambulance, police and tow trucks are on the scene.
More to come.
