A head-on-collision occurred on Highway 19 across from Summerset Road in Nanoose Bay this morning (Thursday, Sept. 13) around 8:55 a.m.
One of the two vehicles involved drove off the highway landing about 30 feet down an embankment.
Nanoose Bay Volunteer Fire Department had to perform and extrication by cutting the roof off the vehicle that drove down the bank in order to free the individual inside, who was then transported to hospital by BC Ambulance.
“The driver, although he was talking, was pinned in the vehicle and the fire department was going to have to do a technical extraction of him,” said Sgt. Darrin Ramey of RCMP Central Island Traffic Services.
The Oceanside RCMP are still on scene working on cleanup as of 10:45 a.m.
More to come.
