Updated: Green Party leader Elizabeth May to visit Alberni Valley

Elizabeth May, leader of the Green Party of Canada, will visit the Alberni Valley on Saturday, April 11 to support Courtenay-Alberni Green Party candidate Glenn Sollitt.

May and Sollitt will be at the Starboard Grill at 8 a.m. They will take a speeder trip from the Port Alberni Train Station to McLean Mill at 9:30 a.m. where there will be a meet and greet followed by a short walk to Kitsuksis Creek to learn about salmonid enhancement. May and Sollitt will head to Courtenay at 11 a.m.

Sollitt is a mechanical engineer from the Qualicum Beach, Alberni Valley campaigner Sandy McRuer said.

The son of a commercial fisher, Sollitt has spent time himself commercial fishing off the west coast. He is presently owner of Glacier View Seafoods Ltd., a seafood distributor.

Sollitt is one of four candidates running in the new riding of Courtenay-Alberni. Gord Johns is running for the NDP, John Duncan for the Conservatives and Carrie Powell-Davidson for the Liberals.
